Happy New Year! (And Thoughts on Hyrule Warriors)

Happy New Years, everyone! Today is the last day of 2013!

Just like last year, I have to examine the quality of Zelda-related events. I wish I could have a more in-depth examination of that, but... Gosh, I'm lazy. I've been having SUCH a problem writing posts for this blog lately.

The most obvious Zelda-related event of 2013 was the release of A Link Between Worlds. I complained last year due to the lack of major Zelda related events -- but the release of a new game is certainly a major event! And I though haven't gotten around to posting my thoughts on dear ALBW, I'll just say now that it is DEFINITELY a good thing. A Link Between Worlds is an excellent game. Of course, you can expect no less from a Zelda title, but you know...

We also saw the release of The Wind Waker HD, which was a great remake. I've talked about it a bit; I liked it way more than I thought I would.

There were some other minor things that I can't really think of... but what I really wanted to talk about was the massive shock we all received about Hyrule Warriors!

Hyrule Warriors is a Zelda game with gameplay that strongly resembles the Dynasty Warriors series. I've never played Dynasty Warriors. But I did a lot of research on it after hearing about Hyrule Warriors. XD It's a hack and slash game based on romaticized Chinese history, I guess, and it's known for having multiple playable characters. People have already pointed out three characters in the background of the Hyrule Warriors trailer (that most have identified as Impa, Nayru, and Zelda). Could they be playable as well?

I am so excited for this. I think I'm more excited for this than I was for A Link Between Worlds. XD This is a new SPIN-OFF! We've never really had a good Zelda spin-off. We had Link's Crossbow Training, but that was hardly a full game, and we have the Tingle games, but they're not strongly Zelda-related, are they? (No, really. Are they? I've never played them. XD) The gameplay for Dynasty Warriors looks like a lot of fun! And oh my goodness, I'm certainly looking forward to playing as some characters besides Link! I mean, I love Link to death -- I really do. I love him more than any of the other characters, really. But I would love to see some interesting changes in a spin-off title!

Anyway, there's only one minute left until the new year. So I have to go! Hopefully you all had a wonderful 2013! See you next year!

  1. Honestly, I think Tingle is hilarious. Usually, in the Tingle games (like Rosy Rupee Land,) he's mostly just trying to get lots of rupees to become a fairy (even though he's probably some hairy, old man. Gross.)

Tingle's also pretty inappropriate though... which explains why Tingle's Rupee Land was only released in the UK. (What qualifies them? xD)

Anyway, happy new year. Glad to see the first blog post of 2014.
And when you get some time, please check out WeegeeServah :3
How busy are you? I mean, what do you 'typically' do? :P I mean, you can't play Zelda 24/7... :O Maybe you do! *mind blown*

    1. Aww, I wish I did! XD But no. Most of my days are spent playing Skyrim or on Zelda Dungeon. I edit the ZD Wiki a lot and post on the forums and play mafia there. I'm sorry, I really want to check out your Minecraft server, but every time I get on the computer, I go straight to Skyrim. XD I just bought myself the DLC, so I've been playing it constantly...

I should probably look into the Tingle games a bit more. I always pride myself on knowing lots about the Zelda series, but I can say very little about those. It's so sad that they weren't released in the US; I'd probably get them, just for my collection! Have you actually played them?

    2. No, but I've seen gameplay videos and I wish that I had it. Apparently it was too "vulgar" or something. :P Even though it was E for everyone... (Or maybe it was E 10+? I dunno.) I do believe it was released for the original DS.
However, that's the only Tingle game I know about. Besides the Tingle Tuner, which isn't really a game. (As much as annoying... filled with such, huge, annoying annoyingness.)

Isn't Skyrim kinda... violent? That's kind of a big leap from Wizard 101/Minecraft/Link/Zelda Dungeon/Mario Kart/Animal Crossing *gasp* to Skyrim. That's like if I were on a diet of gummy bears, and then I went to eat pig guts. I skipped right over the bacon, and the cheese, and the steak, and *ohmygod* such delicious bacon... *om nom*

Anyway... how do I know at what time you actually posted these? This time system on your blog is kinda inaccurate, I can only tell at what time you posted after I posted my comment, and what day.

    3. Annnnd I never responded to this. -.- I'm sorry. I'm the biggest procrastinator ever. It's horrible.

Skyrim is violent, yes. It's the only rated M game that I own. There can be gory scenes every once and a while and there's some language. But I'm a mage character, so I'm not usually attacking with swords or anything that would really cause blood or anything. I keep my distance and take out enemies with fireballs instead of chopping off heads or anything like that.

But it's still really violent. I don't even know what possessed me to try it, but I did, and it's SO much fun, if you can get passed that stuff.

  3. Oh man, I saw this trailer a while ago, and I was really excited. I've played a TON of dynasty warrior games, (my cousin, and myself, I suppose) are huge anime nerds, and games like Onimusha and DW fill my childhood! Onimusha is one of the best constructed hack n slashes out there, but it can get old if you aren't into the old "destroy everyone forever" genre of game.
Its certainly improved with multiple people in a single room, talking and having a good time. I have high hopes for the game, anyway.
Glad to see you've found new gen games like skyrim, but my heart will always belong to morrowind <3
Anyway, have a nice one Sierra c:
