Off to Canada

Wow... the blog quieted down after that last post... O_o

Um, anyway.

Remember last year, when I was crying about how I'd have no Zelda games except PH and ST for a whole month, just because I was going on vacation? Well, that's happening again. Except this time, I'll have a LOT more than Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. I'll also have Ocarina of Time 3D, Link's Awakening DX (yes, I downloaded it!), Minish Cap, and Oracle of Ages.

In fact, you know what I just realized? With the purchase of Link's Awakening, I have every single Zelda game in existence except for Oracle of Seasons. ...Unless you count Four Swords or the CD-i games.

It's kind of sad, since I have Oracle of AGES, but not Seasons... -.-

So. Back to the vacation thing. I don't know how active I'll be - if you recall from last year, my grandparents have a computer, but it's pretty slow. Plus, my parents hate when I use the computer and play video games all throughout our vacation. I probably won't get much time on it.

Sorry about the long period of time where I didn't post, though. I really do want to do an Ocarina of Time N64 to OoT 3D comparison. I have a few differences I wanted to elaborate on. I just... haven't had the time. I might be able to do that when I get back.

Speaking of Ocarina of Time 3D, I just made the ultimate file. All Heart Containers, all Skulltulas, and the best upgrades of everything. Wow. What is it with me and DS Zelda games? I mean, I never even got over 45 Skulltulas on the original version... but with this one, I just totally pwned all sidequests...

The last thing I wanted to talk about was... fanfiction! If you recall, I posted my Medli x Link fanfiction called Duty before Love here on Medli's Messages a few weeks ago. Now it's uploaded at Fanfiction.net both on my profile, and on the Across the Fandom project. Since I feel guilty about uploading it onto my own profile, I'd prefer you read it here, at Across the Fandom... but you can also read it at my profile here. Then there's also one more I uploaded, called Shards of Time. That's here. That one will be a multi-chaptered fic.

That's it! Thanks for reading! I'll return home August 3rd. Please have a good month of July!

OoT 3D - On to Master Quest!

Last night, I completed Ocarina of Time 3D. Barely.

I say barely, because my 3DS was running out of power and I think it would have turned off if I hadn't shoved it into a charger at the last moment. It even started blinking red at me on the top as well as the bottom, where the power-glow-thingy is located. I did everything I could think of to conserve power - I even turned off the 3D effects! That was, like, the lowest level I could stoop to. I also turned down the brightness setting to its lowest and turned on power-saving mode (whatever that is). The only thing I refused to change was the sound. I kept the volume on high. I mean, I was watching the credits, and they're pretty pointless without the music.

Speaking of the credits, they surprised me when the music was exactly the same. I'd heard a while back that the song in one of the Ocarina of Time 3D trailers would be used as the credits song. Luckily, I watched the whole thing through, and after you see Link meeting Zelda again in the courtyard, where the credits would end in the original, the song I expected to hear started up, and downward-scrolling, movie-style credits commenced.

Therefore, I unlocked Master Quest. I've been playing it today, and let me tell you how excited I am about this. VERY! It's almost like a new Zelda game! ...Almost. I mean, I already died once! That's great! You'd think it wouldn't be great, but honestly, it is. I rarely die in Zelda games anymore. To have it challenge me so much that I would actually fail like that... in the FIRST DUNGEON... means I'm going to truly test myself in later dungeons to come. Unlike my "less than 3" death goal I made for myself during my recent run of OoT 3D (which I met happily - I got two. The first was a ReDead, the second was Dark Link... I think those are fair deaths...) I'm going for "less than 6". Hopefully I'm not underestimating the difficulty of Master Quest, and I'll actually have to TRY to meet that goal.

At the moment, I'm in Kakariko Village in Master Quest, about to move on to Death Mountain and start the second dungeon, Dodongo's Cavern. I've already gotten my two bottles (which, much to my relief, weren't any different to obtain in this version) and I was JUST about to get Sun's Song (in fact, I closed the cover of the 3DS as I was playing the Zelda's Lullaby that opens the grave into the Sun's Song area XD) when I logged on to the computer. Why? Because... I thought of something.

What happened to Boss Challenge mode?

I'd heard of it multiple times, on many fansites... and yet I'd completely forgotten about it throughout the game! WHERE IS IT?

Apparently, thanks to this wonderful article at Zelda Dungeon, I have to go back to Link's house. Supposedly Sheik told me about it. I guess I wasn't paying attention. XD

I'm ready to try that Boss Gauntlet!

...After getting my Sun's Song on this Master Quest file.

And after this? ...I'm going to try that "Master Sword as Young Link" glitch. And then I'll try all the glitches I know from the original Ocarina of Time on this version, haha. I know quite a few, and according to Zelda Dungeon here, the creators tried their best to preserve the glitches from the old version. Yay! I might still be able to do my swordless glitch! :P

I also apologize that this was not the comparison post I promised - I'm kind of eager to get back to my Ocarina of Time game to do the things I just mentioned above, so I don't want to write a long post like that.

OoT 3D - Only to Water Temple? I'm ashamed of myself.

MY 3DS CAME YESTERDAY!

And thus I didn't get on the computer at all. So I have a lot of catching up to do. The only big news I've seen so far is an announced new Legend of Zelda game for Wii U. And there's a few Ocarina of Time 3D glitches... though I have my own. Two of them, in fact. Am I glitch magnet or what?

Maybe I should be filming myself to prove that these actually happened... but I TOTALLY wasn't ready for them. Besides, both had negative effects. In the first glitch I got stuck in place and my sister wasted all my arrows trying to get out of it, and the second glitch stole 100 rupees from me and gave me an unwanted Blue Potion.

...I'm so unlucky!

Enough of that for now. I'll probably explain later in this post. For now... I want to write about what I've been doing on my lovely 3DS.

First off... I'm only in the Water Temple. I know that's sad, especially for me, self-proclaimed Zelda expert. I've been distracted by the other features on the 3DS, though. You really can't blame me! I really did dream of completing the game within the first, day, though. I really hoped to move on to the Master Quest. ...Oh, well. I guess three days it is, yet again. At least I won't spend 17 hours in the Water Temple like my last run.

I started off EXTREMELY excited. I mean... 3D Ocarina of Time! Who WOULDN'T get excited about that? I was marveling over all the little details - Saria's fairy was green now, and the fairies of the other Kokiri looked pink like the healing ones you trap in bottles. And the Great Deku Tree looked amazing!

...But when I realized it was the EXACT same game, I started getting bored. XD

I kept playing, though. I played until I left the Kokiri Forest (where in my confrontation with Saria, her fairy had randomly turned red instead of green! ...What the heck?) and got my ocarina, and went out into Hyrule Field. It was at this point I went to find my sister to tell her how insanely easy this game was (Gohma died in under 3 minutes! I didn't even have the bring her down 3 times like you normally do - only two, and I wasn't ready the first time, lol) and... she kind of took over the game...

And by took over, I mean stole my brand new system from me and started going crazy with the new controls.

After begging her not to get trapped in the cutscene with the owl (Kaepora Gaebora is more evil than Ganondorf. HE is the one we should have been using the Master Sword on!) she accidentally went into Kokiri Forest...

...where everything was covered in a strange pinkish-red glow.

You can imagine how surprised I was at this point. In fact, I was past surprised. I was freaking out. If I remember correctly, forests - especially enchanted Kokiri Forests - should not be red.

So I went back out into Hyrule Field... and everything was red there, too! No! And I immediately blamed my sister, of course. She was the one last messing with the controls... it must have been her fault.

...Well, apparently, since the 3DS is so advanced and all, sunset and sunrise actually bathes everything in a red glow. Hey, makes sense, I guess. But it thoroughly succeeded in confusing and even scaring me at first. XD

If everything suddenly turned red, you'd be, too!

Anyway. The rest of the game is fine, as well - the updated graphics are truly beautiful. I loved looking at the Great Fairy Fountain in 3D (though for the Great Fairy herself, I can't really say) and pulling out the Master Sword...... wow. Just wow. There were a few other minor changes I'd like to mention, especially in the controls, but I'll save those for a later post when I complete the entire game.

For now, let me think... what else was interesting that happened to me in Ocarina of Time 3D so far?

...Well, there are those glitches...

All right. I guess I'll talk about those.

The first one happened when I was hunting Big Poes as an adult. I'd just completed the Fire Temple, and my lack of a fourth bottle was starting to annoy me. To get the fourth bottle (the only one you can get as an adult) you need to catch all ten Big Poes in Hyrule Field (only appearing when you're on Epona) and sell them to the Poe Seller guy in Castle Town. Once you get all ten, he'll give you the bottle.

This one Poe in particular was the one that appears by the tree right outside Lon Lon Ranch. I wasted SO many arrows trying to get him - he kept getting away! And it's impossible to aim that bow in 3D, so I had to turn it off, much to my disappointment (I like the 3D effects!). I rode back and forth, trying to finally defeat that Poe with my bow. And when I FINALLY did, I was so relieved, I immediately rode up to it and dismounted Epona. I walked over to try and talk to the Poe's spirit... but instead I re-mounted Epona. Annoyed, I pressed 'A' to get off her again... but instead talked to the spirit, still on my horse.

I didn't even know that was possible. Is it possible, or was that part of the glitch?

Anyway, everything seemed normal, until I said "catch in bottle" or whatever. The in-game text showed up saying "You caught the Poe's Soul! Sell it to the guy for lots of money!" or whatever. I pressed 'A' and the text disappeared... before immediately reappearing, with the same message.

...What?

And then, when the text disappeared, I couldn't move. O_o

I could L-target (locking on to the spot where the Poe's soul previously was)! I could use my bow (and, upon showing my sister, she wasted the small remainder of my arrows while pressing every button possible to get un-stuck)! But I couldn't move!

Luckily, it was easy to fix. I could still save during this. So... I did. And then I turned it off and back on. Yay.

Still don't know what happened.

The second glitch occurred... would you believe it... within ten minutes of the last one! After turning the game back on I retrieved Epona (who was still standing in the same spot) and headed to Kakariko to buy more arrows (because I'm too lazy to look for them, and I have so many rupees it's nice to spend them every once and a while). After that, out of random boredom I went to the old woman who runs a secondary potion shop behind the main one - you know, the woman that sells you the Blue Potion? Yeah... I went in there, and talked to her...

AND MY RUPEES JUST STARTED DRAINING!

All I did was talk to her!!! That's IT! She even asked, "Ultimate Potion! 100 Rupees" or whatever! And I, still in shock that all my rupees had randomly disappeared, selected "Don't buy."

And then I got a Blue Potion. For no reason! I don't even want one - I was hunting Big Poes, remember? I need my bottles empty to put their spirits in. Worse, now I only have 53 rupees. Well, at least now I won't be throwing away the ones I happen to gain in the Water Temple.

All right, this is a long enough post. Tomorrow (or whenever I finally complete this game) I'll do a full comparison between Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64 (or Virtual Console on Wii, but hey, they're the same thing XD) and what I've noticed changed in Ocarina of Time 3D.

But for now... goodnight!

Monday, June 20, 2011

I am now a proud owner of Ocarina of Time 3DS.

...But I still can't play it. Because I still don't have a 3DS.

Fortunately, there's good news! Babysitting surprisingly gave me... $66! I was NOT expecting that much! I mean, I was hopeful for $50, right? So with that money, I bought a 3DS off eBay. It's expected to come Thursday.

I still can't decide whether I should open my Ocarina of Time 3D and register it for that CD offer (which ends tonight, midnight Pacific time) or leave it. I really want that, but it's just smarter to keep the game sealed until I get my system, you know? On the other hand, I'm dying to see what a 3DS game looks like. Are they exactly like DS ones? XD Plus I'll have no way to prove that I got it on the first day it came out unless I register it right away.

...I guess I already missed my chance for that. I received the game yesterday, but I'm still debating over opening it up today.

Well, I still have the receipt. And I need to keep that receipt, because it also has my renewed preorder of Skyward Sword on it, haha.

Oh, I hope my 3DS comes soon. I'm dying to try out Ocarina of Time 3D... plus, since I bought the 3DS online instead of locally, I saved money so I also can get Link's Awakening.

That's the best part of getting a 3DS: getting one of the three Zelda games I don't have! If they remake Oracle of Seasons and Ages, my collection will be complete! ...Unless you count the CD-i games, of course. Sadly, though, I don't have that much money to spend. Seriously, go online and check out how much Link: Faces of Evil costs. And then I'd need to buy the system, too. O_o

You know what happened at GameStop while I bought Ocarina of Time 3D? Some man came in and preordered Skyward Sword next to me. He asked what its release date was, and the GameStop guy replied, "November."

Me: ...When did this happen?

You know, I probably should have actually said that instead of thinking it. But whatever.

November release for Skyward Sword does sound highly likely, despite Europe's Nintendo saying August. Honestly, I'd prefer that to an August release - I know I didn't act like it in my previous post (especially considering I mentioned I'd slap the person responsible for the typo, if it was one) but it's true. They'd have more time to prefect Skyward Sword... and I'm kind of out of money right now after buying the 3DS, so... XD

One more day for Ocarina of Time 3D's United States release

Guess what? I no longer have Skyward Sword preordered.

...Okay, I regret it now. I've had money on that thing since September 2010. Only AFTER I left GameStop did I realize that rather than moving my money for Skyward Sword over to Ocarina of Time 3D could I have just paid the money AGAIN and kept SS's preorder... if that made any sense...

Basically, now my money is on a preorder for Ocarina of Time 3D.

And guess what? I DON'T HAVE A 3DS!

I think I'm going to get one, though. They're cheaper online, so I'll buy one there. I'll have enough money then. However, it still means I won't be able to play Ocarina of Time 3D right away. I'll be able to stare at the game! But that's pretty much it. Fortunately, I have plenty of friends with 3DS's. I'll just ask one of them to let me try it out.

It's very exciting. Ocarina of Time is great game, and all those incredible trailers are just making it look even BETTER.

As soon as I go to GameStop tomorrow, I'm going to put some money back on Skyward Sword, though. XD I couldn't go back yesterday, when I canceled the preorder, because I'd gone up that desk 3 times to ask the guys questions. I was trying to find enough money to buy a 3DS, lol. The three games I was willing to sell, though, only gave me $11 and my DSi would have given me $50, but I'm too attached to that thing to let it go. It has Link on it, you know. I bought a skin over the internet to put on it... of course, in GameStop, I saw an Ocarina of Time 3D skin for the 3DS! I was super excited! That's what I'm asking for for my birthday...

Anyway. I made $10 today, and I'll make another $5 for sure tonight, and HOPEFULLY will be getting some money for babysitting later. How much do you think I can get away with asking for babysitting? I want to make a lot of money, rofl... but I don't want to look greedy.

I mean, ideally they could give me $100 and I'd be happy... VERY happy... but somehow I doubt that's happening...

...Even $50 would be nice...

Anyway! Ocarina of Time 3D. Yep. Looks amazing. I can't wait!

[E3 2011] New Ocarina of Time Trailer

This time, it's a remake of the original Nintendo 64 trailer. YES! I loved that trailer! :P

Oh, gods, I want this game SO badly now. -.-

[E3 2011] New Character Artwork - Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time 3D

Skyward Sword

Ocarina of Time 3DS

Now THIS is what I've been waiting for. I'm going to go and make a new header now, as well as a new signature and avatar for Wizard101 Central with that ADORABLE SS Zelda render! XD Of course, it looks like OoT 3DS Zelda is really cute too. :) But I think for the header, I'm going to use the picture of Link on Epona. That's a good one. Perhaps I should make a Skyward Sword header, too.

New Ocarina of Time Commercial (and one day until Nintendo's E3!)

Today the official North American commercial for Ocarina of Time 3DS was released! It's pretty amazing. It doesn't show much footage of the actual game, but it captures some of the most memorable scenes. I was in awe after seeing it. So then I proceeded to watch it ten or twenty more times after that. And I was still in awe. XD

The release date for Ocarina of Time 3DS is June 19th here in the U.S. I'm looking forward to it! ...Even if I won't be immediately buying the game, due to a lack of a 3DS system, it's still rather exciting.

In other news, Nintendo's E3 Press Conference 2011 starts tomorrow, June 7th. Let's hope we can hear news about Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time 3DS, and possibly Link's Awakening 3DS (which I mentioned in an earlier post, but it was not released with the initial 3DS shop games). Oh, and of course we all want information on Project Cafe, Nintendo's upcoming system! All the rumors say its release will be in 2012. I wonder if it's true...?

Remember: Nintendo's E3 presentation begins 9 AM Pacific time, or so I've heard. I'm planning on setting my alarm for something around 8:30 so I can watch it live. I mean, it doesn't matter if I watch it in my PJ's, right? ;) If I do manage to get to it live, I'll make sure to post any Legend of Zelda, Project Cafe, or other slightly relevant information here on Medli's Messages. As a result, I have no idea how many posts I'll make tomorrow... hopefully I can keep it to a minimum of ten.

Greatest Zelda Game Tournament - Ocarina of Time Wins Yet Again

And, as always, Ocarina of Time has won IGN'S Greatest Legend of Zelda Game Tournament. Well, so much for the hope that Majora's Mask could get away with a victory for once. That's what I voted for!

At least Majora's Mask defeated A Link to the Past. That's a pretty great feat - especially when you look at how close it was!

Oh, well. Ocarina of Time is an incredible game as well, and it's no surprise it won. The only surprises that came from this tournament were the victories of Phantom Hourglass over Spirit Tracks and Link's Awakening over Minish Cap. I did NOT see those coming.

We'll just have to keep waiting for Skyward Sword - and, of course, the Ocarina of Time 3DS remake that comes out June 19th here in the United States! And, as a reminder (as if you don't remember from my last, like, twenty posts) Nintendo's E3 is June 7th.

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Okay. I give up.

There are WAAAAAY too many new Ocarina of Time trailers and videos coming out! I can't keep up with them. Therefore, I'll just say... go to Zelda Dungeon, or some other fansite that updates more frequently than I do. :P I'll post two of the most recent, but I've missed some - I know I have, since I WATCHED them but was too lazy to post them here - and I don't feel like finding them again. Sorry!

Still, this video is preeeeeety epic!

You know what one of my favorite parts was? 1:33. Somewhere around there. Link's in Ganon's Castle, and these sparklies fly around him and heal him. They didn't do that in the N64 version. So Link would just stiffly look at his hands like an idiot - even more so if you had full hearts to begin with. Now he fluidly looks at the sparklies healing him. Makes more sense. :P

So there actually aren't that many changes, now that I think of it. Backgrounds changed quite a bit, yes, and so did Link... but other characters look surprisingly similar. Facial expressions have been added - such as when Darunia pats (more like pounds) Link on the head at 1:13 or something like that. And movements, as I mentioned above, are MUCH more fluid! I love that.

And this next trailer?

It shows off the new features. The newest new feature I've noticed is the role of the Gossip Stones. I knew there would be a hint feature (as I've mentioned previously) but I didn't know how that would work. Oh, wait. I guess they're not Gossip Stones anymore. They're... "Sheikah Stones." Well, same difference, I guess...

There's also the lovely demonstration of the improved Iron Boots - something I'm sure we're ALL excited about. And at the same time - the Hookshot now has a red line, showing us where it will hit! How convenient!

And then there's that Boss Replay mode. I'm looking forward to that. Trust me, I'll pwn Gohma so many times it won't even be funny... well, at least not for Gohma... but for me it probably will be...

And that's all I've got to say for now! Unless someone has an idea for a Link x Din romance fanfic, lol.

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

OMG! NO WAY! This is amazing. XD

LISTEN TO THE SKYWARD SWORD TRAILER BACKWARD!!!

Recognize it?

If you've played, um, pretty much ANY Zelda game save for a few... but most specifically, Ocarina of Time... then you SHOULD!

ZELDA'S LULLABY!!!!

I. Was. Amazed. :D

...And there's also a new Ocarina of Time 3DS Trailer.

BUT I STILL LOVE THE MUSIC THING!!!! XD

I mean, it's so clever, so ingenious... but at the same time, pretty cheap. Lol, they can't come up with something new? BUT I STILL LOVE IT. :P

Nintendo's probably face-palming about now. "Seriously? They didn't notice until NOW?" xD

Btw: Nintendo's E3 presentation is June 7th!

...And if anyone knows where Ganon is in the original LoZ, it'd be nice to know... but I'll write a post on that later.

OoT 3DS Intro

My friend on Central found this somehow. It's awesome!

Sorry, I'm in a hurry, I can't post much else. XD

Enjoy!

There's more Ocarina of Time 3D information than there was Spirit Tracks... (New screenshots and info!)

Please remember to read and comment on the post beneathe this one - I don't usually do two posts per day, but I had to today.

~~~
Ocarina of Time 3D, so far, seems to be even more popular than Spirit Tracks was. The release is still over a month away, and yet more and more information is released about it seemingly everyday (or at least every time I log on to the computer!). Of course, there's ALSO the fact that I wasn't THAT involved with the Zelda community when Spirit Tracks came out... but still. Here's just a quick update on what Zelda Dungeon has to say:
There will be a "boss challenge" mode added to the game! In Spirit Tracks, there was the whole "Take 'Em All On" game in Castle Town where previous bosses could be re-fought to gain treasure. Apparently they will somehow integrate this into Ocarina of Time 3D. I'm super excited! I love that game in Spirit Tracks - whenever I'm bored I'll just go and play it for fun. XD This sounds great!
Also... apparently there will be a hint system? Well, I guess that's nice for new players, but still... people made it through the games just fine without them before. Whatever.
And here's some other new details they've heard:
  • The blurry pre-rendered bitmap Castletown is now a rendered environment. With several new remodeled building exteriors, but still maintains the old camera angle.
  • The water effects of Lake Hylia have been improved.
  • The fishing pond has been changed with more textures adding a more rocky appearance and a waterfall has been added.
  • The tree wall has been replaced by three dimensional trees.
  • All 2D backgrounds have been replaced by rendered 3D backdrops with greater detail.
  • When viewed from Hyrule Field, Death Mountain is no longer a 2D cardboard cutout but a 3D model.
  • Temple of Time interior has been remodeled including a visible ceiling.
  • The inventory is now kept on the touchscreen and items may be equipped by the X and Y buttons.
  • The ocarina is now permanently placed in an area on the lower left corner of the touchscreen.
  • Due to a lack of rumble feature the Stone of Agony now emits a sound instead of the old “rumble” of the N64 controller.
  • In game text and music have not changed from the original.
  • Master Quest is confirmed as a second quest that requires the player to complete the game first to unlock.
I'm glad to hear about Stone of Agony. Since I play OoT on the Wii, I've never been able to use that item. But - aww - you have to COMPLETE the game before playing Master Quest? Darn it! XD Oh, well.
Also - I just found this a few minutes ago - but more OoT 3DS screeshots! And, OMG, they are AMAZING. Check out Zelda's Courtyard! And Castle Town - wow. The Happy Mask Shop certainly changed. I'm only taking the ones I thought were the most dramatically different from N64, so check out the link at the bottom of the post for the rest of them. They're all pretty amazing.
(Why do I think that one picture of Link sitting on the ground is just sooooooo cute? :D It's my fan girl side shining through...)
Zelda Ocarina of Time 3DS to Nintendo 64 Screenshot Comparison
I really wanted to see the differences between the original Ocarina of Time for N64 and the new one for 3DS with improved graphics. I searched on YouTube and only found one or two videos, so I decided to go hunting for screenshots and make my own. No, not a video... I don't have time for that... but I DID find pictures.
I stole the screenshots from various websites. You can see the logos in the corner of some, and others I cut off to make the sizes fit. I put a LOT of work into this... despite how easy it may sound, finding matching screenshots is hard.
Here's the first one. You'll probably need to click to view the thing full size.
This is of Link and Saria... obviously. Ugh. When you compare them side-by-side... I don't like original Link. XD It's just... OoT 3DS Link is soooooooo cute! Or as my sis would say... kawaii! :P And the fairies - they're sort of cut off in the 3DS picture, but you can still tell from both this and in later pictures that they're a little different. Again, 3DS graphics pwn N64 ones. I love Navi's appearance now. Just too awesome. One thing I'm curious about, though: will Navi still say "Hey, Listen!" in the 3DS version? I wonder... I mean, on one side, I'd be SO annoyed by that, but then again, I just don't think Ocarina of Time will be the same without it!
Now for the next picture.
This one... Link and Ganondorf. They're slightly different... but it's HARD to find matching pictures online, okay!? If I could figure out how to take my own screenshots, this would be a LOT closer... XD Anyway. With this one... again, I'm marveling at how much the graphics have changed. Perhaps it's just the picture quality, but the 3DS graphics look a LOT more cheerfully bright. I suppose it's not supposed to look that way, considering it's an encounter with the villain of the game, but whatever. Frankly, I like it that way.
Next...
This depicts Link pulling out the Master Sword. For some reason, the walls of the Temple of Time look a lot more detailed in the Nintendo 64 version, but Link is definitely much better in the 3DS. Why is that?
Well, good news is that I heard in the 3DS, the Temple of Time will actually have a CEILING now! Can you believe it? ;) Of course, that's just what I read somewhere - a comment on Zelda Dungeon. It's not exactly a reputable source, but I figured I'd let you know anyway.
WOW. HUGE difference here! Just LOOK at the backgrounds! Now, I'm sure that they're in different positions, and that's why the backgrounds are so dramatically different, but still - that's incredible! The trees ACTUALLY look like TREES on the 3DS version! Plus, it gives us a great view of Link: the perfect chance to see just how much he's changed. But... geez. I STILL can't get over how beautiful that 3DS background is.
I also apologize for the poor quality of the N64 picture. O_o
This one is when Link obtains the Kokiri Sword! Yes, now after viewing so many screenshots, I'm thoroughly convinced that the 3DS will be brighter than the N64 version. And Link's expression - it reminds me of Twilight Princess Link. TP Link always reacted to the items he received (a fact I really liked - I never get over the look on his face when he picks up Ooccoo XD). It looks like they're carrying on this idea to OoT 3DS. When reading the comments on Zelda Dungeon, however, most people disliked Link's hands. And now that I look at them? They are a little weird...
Here! Zelda, fleeing Castle Town on a white horse with Impa. Sorry for the TERRIBLE quality of the first picture, but I could not find a better one. Even though the positions of Zelda in both pictures are different, you can still kind of see the difference - or lack thereof. Honestly, Zelda didn't change much. Perhaps she looks a bit less polygonal, but sitll. I think she deserved more than that, considering the HUGE changes they made to Link.
Oh, well. I'm still INSANELY excited for Ocarina of Time 3D. Even though I still don't have a 3DS system yet. XD
Hope you enjoyed this post! I certainly sounded more professional this time, didn't I? I wasn't my crazy, outgoing self at all...
Have a great Easter weekend! Even if you don't celebrate Easter. ;)
More Ocarina of Time 3D Information!
And pictures. I personally didn't care much about the pictures - I mean, they're just updated graphics of things we've already seen. Therefore I won't post them all here. You can click this link to view the pictures at Zelda Dungeon.
However, I will post the box art.
It's SO much more epic than the original Ocarina of Time box art, wouldn't you agree? I personally didn't like any of the box arts for Zelda games until the two Oracles came out. Now THOSE were pretty awesome-looking. I don't like Wind Waker's and Twilight Princess's much, either... nor ST and PH... the Japanese, however, would be another story. They always get the cool ones!
The release date has also changed a bit. Previously I said it was the 17th, right? Well, unfortunately, that's not the case. June 17th is only for the release in Europe - over here, we have to way for June 19th. Two days later... it's not much, but still.
Oh, and the best part of all?
Ocarina of Time 3D will also include... Master Quest!
For those of you who don't know, Ocarina of Time Master Quest is a harder version of the game for GameCube that was available if you preordered Wind Waker (I think... of course, I don't have it XD). I really wish I could play it - I almost bought it a while back - and now I'm jealous of my friends getting OoT 3DS. It only makes me more desperate to raise the money for the system before June... although that will likely never happen.
No new Skyward Sword news, sadly. I doubt we'll hear anything until E3.
Important Dates
I only have a few short things to say.
First off, the Pokemon global link is in two days! I really know nothing about it, sorry. I do not have Black or White - that money is going toward Skyward Sword (although I have MORE than enough for it right now) and 3DS (which I TOTALLY don't have enough for).
The other thing is that there's a rumor for Skyward Sword's release date: September 25th, 2011. Wouldn't that be awesome? From what I've been reading online, it's actually a good possibility - but don't get your hopes up just yet. I'm certainly not going to let my excitement get the better of me, even though that is right after my own birthday (the 16th) and... well, it would just be plain epic.
That's pretty much all I have right now! Hopefully we can look forward to some more stuff at E3 this year, which will be June 7th through the 9th. I'm not sure when Nintendo will announce its stuff during those dates, though... ...OH MY GODS BLOGGER IS ANNOYING ME.
It keeps taking out my paragraphs! :( I had to put them in manually for this post...
Ugh...
Some important stuffs
First:
New buddy blog! In other words... The Goron Times, owned by Umbreon on Wizard101 Central, will now be collaborating with Medli's Messages. I have an affiliate! Hehehe... my blog must be getting at least SOMEWHAT popular if I can use epic words like "affiliate". XD
Also:
Thanks to Umbreon (yet again), I now know the release date for Ocarina of Time 3DS. June 17th!
...And Kid Icarus: Uprising comes out May 6. Just saying.
But... yep! I don't have a 3DS yet, but I now have a lot of friends with it - three I can think of. One of them let me try it. It was... fun. :D I got to play Phantom Hourglass on it (although it sadly wasn't in 3D, because old DS games don't work with it). But... there's these card things you can put on the table and... it pops up on the screen and... yeah. It's epic.
I probably won't get OoT 3DS the day it's released, however. Unless I randomly come up with $150 more for the system. Plus, I need most of my money for Skyward Sword still. There's NOTHING that will keep me away from getting THAT the first day it comes out! (Unless GameStop doesn't get it in in time. Ugh. ST flashback...)
Speaking of which: OoT was rated E. OoT 3DS is rated E 10+. Why? Fantasy violence, animated blood (there's a lot of that... try throwing a bomb at a ReDead!)... and... suggestive themes.
I lol'd at that.
My first thought? Thanks, Ruto.
And the LAST thing:
Should I post a Zelda fan fiction here? I still need a title for it. Unlike The Blade of Evil's Bane, my previous epic fail attempt at creating a Zelda fic, this story will be an adventure-comedy. I'll TRY to be funny... it probably won't be, but at least it will be lighthearted. I think I might post it here for an idea on a title. So? Would anyone read it?
Btw - I'm STILL stuck on dungeon eight!
Ocarina of Time - Majora's Mask style!
I FINISHED OCARINA OF TIME AND TWILIGHT PRINCESS IN THREE DAYS!!!
No, not BOTH of them. I mean, each of them. Like, Ocarina of Time took three days, then Twilight Princess took three... well, actually, it was technically FOUR, but the first one didn't really count. We had relatives over when I was trying to do TP, so I couldn't focus on it completely.
I've been contemplating and forming this post in my head ever since I beat them both. I actually tried to post something on here about the Ocarina of Time three-day run while I was on the second day of it, in the Water Temple. That temple was just frustrating me so dang much, I took a break (actually, a LOT of breaks - I'll explain later in this post), and grabbed my DS. At first it was fan fiction catching-up that I did... but eventually I ran out of new chapters to read. So THEN I went on blogger on my DSi... and... of COURSE...
It deleted the post after I finished writing it.
*sigh* When will I learn my lesson?
Anyway, SINCE I've been thinking about this for FOREVER, it will probably be LONG. Just thought I'd warn ya. ;)
So. As I discovered after writing this entire thing, it's LONGER than long. It's GINORMOUS. So Twilight Princess will be on a separate post, 'kay? I ALSO added little dashes in between each dungeon so it's not one big, long wall of text. Now, here's my three-day run of Ocarina of Time!
----------------
I hadn't played that game in a long while - I could barely remember most of the cutscenes and so on. I don't know exactly WHY I did it - probably just out of boredom? But one morning during the Winter Break, I decided to delete my third Ocarina of Time file and start a new one. It was a difficult decision - I had all four bottles on that file! And finding those stupid Big Poes for the last bottle is HARD! ...But I did it anyway.
So, I started the game. The first dungeon, Inside the Great Deku Tree, went well... except all my nightmares of Navi started coming back. I really gotta play OoT more often. I'd forgotten how annoying that stupid fairy is. Like, when I was in that dungeon? At one point, there's this spiderweb thingy that you have to jump down on top of to break it, but when I did, it didn't break. Navi says "HEY!" when you approach the thing, so when I landed it, it bounced up and down. So every time it bounced, Navi would scream "HEY!" It ended up something like "Heyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyhey!!!" before the thing stopped bouncing...
However, this is where the really epic part comes in - after defeating Ghoma, the first boss, I didn't get the Heart Container! O: So, yeah! I completed this game in three days with three hearts and dying only three times! XD
---
Then it was to Hyrule Castle! Zelda was fun to mess with. I probably wasted the most time there. After all, it wasn't me trying to hurry through the game until I got through five dungeons in one day, impressing myself. Anyway, she doesn't even turn to look at you when you come in. Like, if Link was an assassin or something, she would be dead. XD I tried slashing at her a few times, lol. Then I shot my slingshot and the windows. One gives you a lecture and a lit bomb. The other (with Mario characters in it) gives you rupees. I think I like rupees better. My sister got annoyed by all this time I was wasting, since she was watching me and all. I talked to her at my sister's urging... but I managed to annoy her more by selecting "no" to everything Zelda said, making her repeat the same thing over and over until you choose "yes."
---
After that - second dungeon. Dodongo's Cavern. Um, Taryn watched me for part of this... but besides that, I can't remember much of it. It wasn't very exciting.
---
Third dungeon - Inside Lord Jabu-Jabu! Ummm... wasn't much in here to talk about, either. Oh, well, there was ONE thing, lol. The boss. Um, after I defeated it, I was standing a liiitttllle too close to it... so when the Heart Container appeared, it appeared ON TOP OF me! So I got it. And then I had four hearts, not three... >.<
So I turned off the game and started over. I WANTED THREE HEARTS. I wouldn't even let myself get a Heart Piece - when I did, I'd also turn it off. :P
---
After that it was... MASTER SWORD TIME! (Da-na-na-naaah!) But fiiiiirrsst... I had to do a few things as a little kid. After all, I wouldn't be able to go back until I beat Forest Temple. So, first I went and got all the bottles I could. I'd forgotten the one in Lon Lon Ranch... so I found that. And then I got Anju's Cucco's or whatever, and that ALSO gets you a bottle. Yay! Three bottles! Perfect for fairies, which are totally useful when you only have three hearts. :D
Then I wasted MORE time by going to the Happy Mask Shop. I sold the Keaton Mask. Then I got the Skull Mask, but... the Skull Kid won't talk to you to buy it unless you play Saria's Song. And I can't do THAT! That gets me a HEART PIECE!
...So that didn't work out either.
Then I watched the cutscene-type-thing where that guard is dying! I'd heard of it before, but every time I played this game, I always forget to see it! You go into the back alleys in Castle Town RIGHT before getting the Master Sword, and you'll see a guard there. Yeah. Did that...
THEN it was Master Sword time.
And the VERY first thing I did when I turned older? Did that glitch at the Temple of Time altar that temporarily ditches Navi. :P You can't do it when you're little.
---
Next dungeon - Forest Temple! You know that the Poes are named after the girls in the book Little Women? I actually OWN that book... like, permanently... but I've never read it. O_o I got lost in the Forest Temple for a while - I've always had a weakness for that place!
---
Then on to Fire Temple. This went by pretty quickly. Well, it DID, until I fell down to the first floor while trying to get the Megaton Hammer from a timed-treasure chest. IT FRUSTRATED ME! I wanted to throw something! XD
---
And that was the end of the first day! As for the second day? That's where it gets interesting. According to my Wii, I spent... about...
17 hours on it?
And you want to know why? The most annoying Zelda dungeon in HISTORY.
WATER TEMPLE!!!!
---
In reality, however, it wasn't totally 17 hours. I left the Wii running for a while, because I was so annoyed by it, while the game was paused. Second time I replayed this game, I actually thought the Water Temple wasn't too bad! And first time - I think I used a walkthrough or something. Idk. Why was it so hard THIS TIME? WHHHY?!
...Well, I KNOW why. Because I lost a stupid key. I needed one to get into the room before Dark Link - yeah, I even KNEW what room it was! - but I couldn't find the key. It took me FOREVER and a LOT a wandering to get it. And a lot of Farore's Wind usage.
This was actually the point that I wrote my post that got deleted on my DSi at. When I lost the key and couldn't find the stupid thing. I was musing on that post about Dark Link - I remembered hearing somewhere that his life depending on how many hearts you had? I have only three hearts, so...
He was REALLY easy. Comically easy. XD Even easier than the second time I played this game, and I thought he was easy then.
Well, first off, he WOULDN'T SHOW UP! I didn't know what to do in the room! It's all empty and whatever except the water and tree in the middle, right? So you're supposed to go to the other side of the room, turn around, and he's standing by the tree.
SO WHERE WAS HE WHEN I DID THAT?
I walked the length of that room like ten times before Dark Link showed up! Srsly! >.<
But from then on, it was Din's Fire, he disappears. Din's Fire, disapppear. Din's Fire, disappear. And he dies. :D Just three times. Thank you, few Heart Containers of mine.
After Dark Link, the Water Temple wasn't as bad anymore. Aside from the putting on and taking off Iron Boots that EVERYONE hates.
---
THEN it was Shadow Temple. Possibly my favorite Zelda dungeon. ...Or it WAS, until I got stuck in it, and my sister started pointing out how scary it was.
IF OoT HAD TP GRAPHICS, IT WOULD BE RATED T. And it would deserve it more than TP. IT'S SCARY! The walls in parts of the Shadow Temple are made of BONES!! Eeeek! And there's blood on the walls! And that Dead Hand... OMG... I NEVER want to see another one again...
And ReDeads...
Oh dear god, goddess, or whatever deity is up there... I hate them...
*shudder*
The only Zelda enemy to give me nightmares. And they were Wind Waker ReDeads. WIND WAKER!!!! That game that everyone thinks isn't mature enough!
Yeeahh... well... back to Shadow Temple. I got lost in the Bottom of the Well, that mini-dungeon you do when you're younger to get the Lens of Truth. The funny part? Well... I didn't know where to go, right? So I found this one room where there were holes in the ground you couldn't see. You'd need the Lens of Truth to see them. However, I didn't have that yet. I figured that by getting through the room, I'd GET the Lens of Truth. So I kept falling. And falling. And again. Again. Every time into a room with creepy green... something that I don't even WANT to know what it was... and a ReDead.
I HATE REDEADS! THEY DON'T EVEN BLOW UP! I threw, like, twenty bombs at him! And this creepy green blood come out, but he's not hurt. Nooooo. ReDeads are too GOOD to get hurt when blood squirts out.
...Like I said. Should be rated T.
Oh, and that room with the invisible holes? I got through it - WITHOUT the Lens of Truth. I used Bombchus to see if they would fall or not, and when I ran out, my Boomerang. Best I could think of. And when I finally get through it? There's no Lens of Truth. Nooo - that room was supposed to be done AFTER getting the Lens of Truth. Instead, I get... a Skulltula token.
WHAT THE HECK? I DON'T NEED SKULLTULAS! I ALREADY HAD THE GIANT'S WALLET! I don't even KNOW what you get after that... I never bothered trying to get anymore than what I needed for it.
*ahem* So. Enough of that. Shadow Temple went by pretty quickly - I DO love the eerie feeling of it. Just not the ReDeads. Or the Dead Hand. Or the blood. Or the skulls. Or the music. Or the Floormasters and Wallmasters (luckily, no wallmasters got me, but I think a Floormaster killed me once...). Yep. Besides that, though, it's awesome.
---
...That was the end of day two. Uh-huh. Finished five dungeons in, what, seven hours? And two... in sevenTEEN.
On to day three... and the Spirit Temple!
---
I think I spent too long in the Gerudo Fortress. I was having too much fun in there. OOH! And I learned where the colors of the Gerudo came from in the fan fiction, The Return! I thought the author made it up! ...Yeah. :P Didn't help, though, when I found the second-to-last captenter dude and saved him, and then accidentally got a Heart Piece. I turned it off and hadn't saved since saving the first dude. Had to find those two again.
So, Spirit Temple... did it as a little kid... umm... the conversation with Nabooru was pretty fun. Just because it gives you options as answers. I found it funny when she asks if you're one of Ganondorf's followers. The only thing is when you say, "What if I am?" (which I always do - I'm just that kind of person XD) she says something like, "No, you're too young to be one of his followers. Just kidding!"
Ugh. Why did she even ASK me in the first place, then? Hmph.
Then I went to fight an Iron Knuckle mini-boss. And guess what?
They hit exactly three hearts out of you if their sword connects...
And I only had three hearts...
EEK! IT KILLED ME IN ONE HIT!
Thank the Goddesses for fairies. :D And Young Link's tiny size! I ducked under it by holding the shield button and just started slamming B! Its sword swept right over my head because it was two stupid to try a vertical slice. So I killed it pretty quickly. :P And finally, I headed back to the Temple of Time for the Master Sword so I could complete the REST of the Spirit Temple. And another Iron Knuckle. It killed me three times, so that, with all four bottles, I only had one fairy left. And the boss fight? It's an Iron Knuckle too, or at least part of it is. And that killed me the first time, even with four fairies. >.< I tried again, but this time with my sister's BRILLIANT plan - USE NAYRU'S LOVE! That way, it won't kill me in one hit! :D
After that?
---
FINAL BOSS TIME!!!! YAAAAYYY!!!
I didn't like the cutscenes though. I wanted to hurry and complete it before the day was over. It was already really, really late at night... so I was going as fast as I could so I could say I completed it in three days. I dispelled the barrier things, and hurried through Ganondorf's Tower (and fought a few more Iron Knuckles), and theeeeennnn...
BOSS! Ganon! Yay! Almost dying... but then, I won! And I didn't die! WOOOOOOOT!
And that's my Ocarina of Time in three days over Winter Break story!
---
As I said, this wasn't a speed run, and I guarantee I could complete it in ONE day if I tried. I did a lot of unnecessary sidequests - part of the Happy Mask Shop, getting ALL FOUR BOTTLES, getting Biggoron Sword (that one took FOREVER), and all the Fairy Fountains. So I could have been quicker. :P
But that was pretty good, right? ;)
And in case you didn't get the post title, it was three days, so it was the same time as Majora's Mask... yeah... XD
Um, like I mentioned at the top, I really don't have room to describe Twilight Princess. This will be one heck of a long post if I did that. I'll put it in a SEPARATE POST! And since I have nothing better to do right now, I might as well start writing it...
So... yep! That's the new longest post ever on Medli's Messages. And boy, was it fun to write. Even if no one reads it. :) It's the result of boredom on a day off - I was sick at home today. Uh-huh.
Now... I gotta close this up...
GOOD NIGHT! :)
New pictures? Yay. We can stare at more things.
How... exciting. I know. XD
The new pictures that I'm talking about are from Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time 3DS. Personally, the Skyward Sword ones didn't really seem "new." Same areas, at least. Except for ONE. This epic fire temple-ish one. :D I know the fire-type temple one was in the trailer, but this one... look at the background! I think it's pretty, lolz!
Okay, these pictures are all coming from Legend of Zelda.com, where I get the majority of my Zelda news. ;) Credit goes to them entirely, or wherever THEY got it from. If you want to view it on their site instead of my blog (traitors! XD), then go here.
Epic Fire Temple one:
Other Skyward Sword screenshots:
Okay. That's done...
Now for what got me SUPER excited. Turns out staring at pictures CAN be fun after all.
The... Ocarina of Time 3DS ones! Guess what? They finally showed us something besides the title screen of the game. Meaning Young Link! :)
(Bottom two weren't on that post at LoZ.com, and are actually from here.)
Annnd... this one is my absolute favorite.
You can guess why! :D It shows the BOTTOM SCREEN! I've been wondering how they would make the transition from a console game to portable. It looks like you have the little buttons you can tap, or something, that you equip potions and items to. And the map's down there, along with three little buttons that... say something in Japanese...
I can't read Japanese. *sob*
So... it's not like PH or ST. It's a top screen game. Not so much touching, I guess. I don't have a problem with that, except I was kind of hoping the Ocarina would be a bit like the Spirit Flute! I LOVE that flute! I will play it for HOURS. (Not really. But I probably could if I felt like it. :D) We haven't seen the ocarina yet, though... maybe I can still hope for it...
'Kay, enough blogging for me. ...Actually, I still have two more posts to make after this. One on Sierra's Story... and then... maybe I'll post the prologue on here. Finally.
Ocarina of Time 3DS!!!! *jumps for joy*
One of the best Zelda games of ALL TIME (LoZ: Ocarina of Time) is going to be remade! ...Again! Yeah, I know, they already remade it on the GameCube, and Virtual Console for Wii (which I have! XD). But now they're editing the graphics, something they hadn't done yet, and (prepare yourselves for EPICNESS) MAKING TAKING ON AND OFF IRON BOOTS EASIER! Meaning less frustration in the Water Temple, the number one hardest Zelda temple I've ever gone through! Oddly, it's much easier the second time through...
This was announced at E3 along with Skyward Sword. So why haven't I posted until now? First: well, I can't give you screenshots if I'm on my DSi, can I? Second: I was confused for a bit there. Some sources said that they were just testing out the 3DS's capabilities or something. Now I know this will be a real, ACTUAL game. Along with Starfox 64... which, now I remember, I almsot bought instead of MM! Now how weird would THAT have been? And I think some Mario game will also be remade.
What is the 3DS, you might ask? Only the newest console from Nintendo! With games... IN 3-D!!!! And Kid Icarus: Uprising is going to come out on it! That's, like, the first non-Zelda game in at least a year that I want to desperately come out quickly! And, let me repeat: it will all be in 3-D!!!
Here's the 3DS, just to get an idea of what it looks like.
Not much different from a normal DSi, huh? Besides the fact everything will be in 3-D!!!!!
Okay, now here's the epic OoT screenshots. Most are of Link on Epona in front of Hyrule field, from the intro. I hope these make you as excited as I am! Of course, I still can't wait for Skyward Sword! :)
Credit goes to IGN for the images.
